The Vietnam Coal Corporation (Vinacoal) was established in 1995 through the merger of all Vietnam's coal exploitation and processing companies.

      Vinacoal has to date become Vietnam's leading economic group with many different sectors such as coal exploitation, processing and selling, explosive and cement production, shipbiuding, automobile manufacturing, tourism, hotels, services and thermoelectricity plants, including the Cao Ngan thermoelectricity plant with China's Harbin being its main contractor and Na Duong thermoelectricity plant with Marubeni-Japan being its main contractor.

       Since the Vietnamese Government decided to merge Vietnam Minerals Corporation into Vinacoal in 2005 and change its name to Viet Nam National Coal - Mineral Industies Group (Vinacomin), the corporation has dad the new task of managing investment, exploitation, processing and business activities of ore, including one of the world's largest bauxite aluminum mines in the Cantral Highlands of Vietnam.

       In its development strategy by 2010, Vinacoal will implement many large-scale projects in exploiting coal mines, producing equipment, exploiting and processing bauxite, buiding large-sized thermoelectricity plants and inctreasing foreign investment.

       Vinacoal Tourism and Trading J.S Company - VTTC, Vinacomin's member, specializes in travel tourism, hotels and importing machines, equipment and materials for mine exploitation and other industries in Vietnam. VTTC has rapidly developed together with Vinacoal.
